Tears streamed down my face.

"So, this is the end?" I whimpered to Ryan.

He nodded a little before coughing and then laying still for a second. His breath came in rasps. The Zombie venom had started to take effect. The wind from the broken car window whooshed through my ears.

Andrea's hands were shaking as she still gripped the steering wheel. "SHITAKI." she half-cursed.

Ryan slowly got to his feet and crawled to the window. Broken and bloody glass was all over the floor of the van, but he didn't seem to notice. He turned his face towards me for a second. There was no grief, or pity. Only a grin.

"Bye." he said.

With that, he hurled himself out of the broken window, his body being tossed in the wind before hitting the ground at 100 miles an hour. I tried to shield my eyes. It was horrific. I felt my sanity slip a little deeper into a void.

Andrea shuddered as the cracking of bones and flesh was heard over the sound of wind.

"And then there were two." I said.

The horde that was chasing us stopped in their heels and went to see the corpse of my friend. They wouldn't eat him- they were too smart for that. He would become a zombie too, with only the instinct to kill and hunt. And then become one of them.

I winced as I shuffled to the front seat. My stomach wound was still bleeding. Maybe I'd be dead soon too. But no, I would have to stay with Andrea! Even till the end, without me she'd be a nervous wreck.

Then again, who wouldn't.

Her voice and the sound of screeching brakes shattered my thoughts into a million pieces.

"We're here! At the airport! We have to go before they catch up with us again!"

I turned and nodded at her. She was right. I didn't want to die. Flying was the only way out.

We jumped out of the car and made our way through the automatic doors. They were stained with blood streaks, and I think an arm was littered somewhere on the ground, but there was no time to take in details. Yet my mind wandered. The walls of the huge airport were white, and there was a slippery tile floor. My skater shoes slipped several times as I ran.

We made several turns and jogs before arriving at a big door labelled, "HANGER."

Don't ask how we found it.

Andrea looked at me and nodded before opening the heavy door.

The inside was a huge steel bunker-style building with huge doors at the opposite end. Inside was a Boing-747, a small golf cart, and a small-ish news helicopter.

"That'll do the trick." I said.

We both dashed to the helicopter and I slammed the door shut as I entered. Then I noticed.

I had left my axe back in the van.

"Fuggin memory!!" I cursed.

"What?" Andrea replied while she switched on some controls that she remembered from the PC game Flight Simulator.

I looked back for a second. "Nothing, just that I forgot our only weapon!" I said in frustration.

Andrea put a hand on my shoulder, causing me to look up.

She smiled. "Dude, don't worry, we have a helicopter now, right?"

I smiled as well. It was true.

And now we could get free.
